What counts as a hotspot

The eye region in each frame is compared against its own local brightness average — a point is flagged only when it is both very bright in absolute terms and standing out sharply from its immediate surroundings, which is what a specular reflection actually looks like versus normal skin or eye brightness. The boxes drawn over your video mark exactly where each eye region was analysed, colored green when clear and red when a hotspot is found.

Fixing glare, roughly in order of effort

Move the light off-axisThe single biggest fix. A light positioned right next to the camera lens reflects straight back into it — even a small angle change breaks that.
Raise the light above eye levelReflections off glasses lenses are very angle-sensitive; light from slightly above tends to reflect up and away from the camera rather than straight back.
Add diffusionA diffuser panel or even sheer fabric over a light softens a hard specular point into a much less noticeable soft glow.

How do I stop glasses glare on a video call?
Angle your main light slightly up and off to the side rather than straight at your face — direct on-axis light is the most common cause of a clean reflection straight back into the camera. Adding a diffuser, or simply tilting your glasses or head very slightly, often clears it without any relighting at all.
Why is my ring light causing glare?
A ring light positioned close to and centered on the camera lens is almost purpose-built to reflect straight back into glasses lenses — the classic visible ring-shaped glint. Moving it slightly off-axis, or raising it above eye level, usually breaks the direct reflection angle.
Does this send my video anywhere?
No. Face tracking and the glare analysis both run entirely on your device — no image or video data is ever transmitted.
Why does it say "no face detected"?
Make sure your face is clearly in frame and reasonably lit — the model needs a basic view of your face to locate your eyes before it can analyze them for hotspots.
