A virtual camera's resolution and frame rate are set by the software producing it, not by any sensor. If the test above reports something unexpected, the number to change is in the source application.

Snap Camera is included in many older guides but was discontinued in January 2023 and no longer functions. If you are following a tutorial that recommends it, the tutorial is out of date.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting Virtual Camera Issues
1. The virtual camera does not appear in the list at all
The problem: Your browser or call app shows physical cameras but not the virtual one.
The fix: Almost always because the source application was started after the app that needs the camera. Virtual cameras register with the operating system when their software starts, and apps enumerate cameras when they launch. Close your browser or call app completely, make sure the source software is running and its virtual camera output is switched on — in OBS this is the Start Virtual Camera button, which is not automatic — then reopen the app that needs it.
2. It appears but shows a black or frozen frame
The problem: The device is selectable, but there is no picture.
The fix: In OBS, confirm a scene with an active source is selected; the virtual camera outputs your current scene, so an empty scene produces black. For phone-based cameras like Camo or EpocCam, confirm the phone app is open and connected — many disconnect when the phone locks or the app is backgrounded.
3. The virtual camera survived an update but stopped working
The problem: It worked yesterday and now the device is missing.
The fix: Virtual cameras install a system-level driver, and operating-system updates can invalidate it. Reinstalling the source application usually re-registers the driver. On Windows this may require running the installer as administrator so the driver can register correctly.

Whichever you use, remember that a virtual camera adds a processing stage between the sensor and your call. That is worth knowing if you are chasing audio-video sync, because it can add latency the camera alone would not.
