Testing Front vs. Rear Camera Sensors

Testing on a consistent Wi-Fi connection versus mobile data is worth doing separately too, since Android and Chrome can both adapt requested video quality based on detected network conditions, meaning the exact same phone camera might report a different negotiated resolution depending on your current connection type. A strong Wi-Fi connection generally lets the browser request its normal target resolution without any network-driven scaling down, while a weak or congested mobile data connection can trigger a lower default even before any app-level bandwidth adaptation kicks in during an actual call.

If you're testing specifically to prepare for video calls rather than idle curiosity, running this same check right before an important call, in the actual location and network you'll be using, gives the most representative result — camera performance and available bandwidth can both vary meaningfully between your home network and, for instance, a coffee shop or shared office Wi-Fi.

One more practical tip: bookmark whichever browser-based test you use so re-checking takes seconds rather than requiring you to search for it again — camera performance on a given phone rarely changes on its own, but it's genuinely worth re-confirming after a major Android or Chrome update, since either one can occasionally shift what resolution gets negotiated by default.
