Dell UltraSharp WB7022 Webcam Test & Diagnostic Tool
Start the test below to check your Dell UltraSharp webcam. Dell publishes unusually detailed troubleshooting documentation for the WB7022, and the guidance here follows it — including a USB port requirement and a dongle interference issue that Dell documents but almost nobody knows about.

Expected Performance
Dell UltraSharp Specifications & Expected Performance
Dell's own support documentation specifies 4K at 30fps and QHD at 60fps. Note the field-of-view presets: the camera defaults to a wide 90 degrees, which shows a great deal of your room.
| Model | Resolution & frame rate | Optics / sensor | Other |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dell UltraSharp WB7022 | 4K UHD at 30fps; QHD at 60fps | Sony STARVIS 8.3MP CMOS | Autofocus, 5x digital zoom, HDR, AI auto-framing |
| Field of view presets | 90° default, 78° mid-range, 65° close-up | Set in Dell's software | Not adjustable without it |
| Dell Pro Webcam (WB5023) | The 1080p model in the range | Smaller sensor | Check Dell's current specification before buying |
The WB7022 includes a proximity sensor supporting Windows Hello, plus Dell's Walk Away Lock and Wake on Approach. Dell documents that those two features work only on Dell computers, so on a non-Dell machine you get Windows Hello but not the proximity locking. It ships with a magnetic privacy cap that attaches to the front or the back of the camera.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting Dell UltraSharp Issues
1. 4K is unavailable in the software
The problem: Dell Peripheral Manager does not offer the 4K UHD option at all.
The fix: Dell documents this directly: the WB7022 supports 4K only over USB 3.0. On a USB 2.0 port the option is not offered, and you may also see reduced image quality and Windows Hello authentication problems. Connect the camera with a cable running directly to the computer rather than through a hub, dock or monitor.
2. The image flickers
The problem: Visible banding or pulsing under office lighting.
The fix: Dell notes that fluorescent lighting and reflected LCD light can cause this. In Dell Peripheral Manager, look under Color and Image for the Anti-Flicker setting and switch between 50Hz and 60Hz to match your region's mains frequency — 50Hz across most of Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia; 60Hz in North America.
3. Video lags when a wireless dongle is nearby
The problem: Intermittent stutter that does not correlate with system load.
The fix: This one is genuinely obscure and comes straight from Dell's own guidance: if the webcam shares a USB hub with a 2.4GHz or Bluetooth dongle, the dongle can experience interference and lag. Dell recommends not connecting a dongle in the port next to the webcam. If you use a wireless mouse or keyboard receiver, move it to the opposite side of the machine.

Dell also advises turning HDR off in low light — it is designed for high-contrast scenes and can make a dim room look worse rather than better, which is the opposite of what most people assume.
