Logitech Brio 500 & 505 Test & Diagnostic Tool

Logitech specifies 1080p at 30fps, with 720p available at 60fps. The camera uses a 4MP sensor behind a glass lens with autofocus.

The Brio 500 has a rotating integrated privacy shutter, dual noise-reducing microphones rated to pick up your voice from about four feet, and a micro-suction mount designed for one-handed adjustment. RightLight 4 handles automatic light correction with AI face correction, and RightSight provides auto-framing.

Troubleshooting Logitech Brio 500 Issues

1. Auto-framing and Show Mode are not available

The problem: You bought the camera for these features but cannot find them anywhere.

The fix: Both require Logi Tune to be installed and running. Without it the Brio 500 behaves as a plain 1080p webcam with none of the features that distinguish it from a much cheaper camera. Show Mode in particular — which tilts the camera down so you can present sketches or objects on your desk — exists only through the software.

2. None of the software features work on a Chromebook

The problem: Logi Tune is unavailable, so auto-framing, Show Mode and the field-of-view presets cannot be enabled.

The fix: Logitech documents that Logi Tune is not available for ChromeOS. The camera still works as a standard 1080p webcam on a Chromebook, but you are locked to the default 90-degree field of view and none of the AI features. This is worth knowing before buying if a Chromebook is your main machine.

3. The field of view is too wide

The problem: The default view shows far more of your room than you want.

The fix: The Brio 500 defaults to 90 degrees, which is deliberately wide to fit more than one person. Logi Tune offers 78-degree and 65-degree presets, and switching to one of those usually improves framing more than any other single change. As above, this requires the software.

The Brio 500 is a case where the software is most of the product. As a bare 1080p30 camera it is unremarkable; with Logi Tune the auto-framing, light correction and Show Mode are what justify the price over a basic webcam.
